Benefits of Baobab

Many of you are probably reading the title and thinking, what in the world is baobab?

Baobab is an indigenous fruit found in various regions of Africa. Baobab has been used as traditional medicine and has a role in cultural and religious beliefs. Additionally, it contains numerous nutrients that are overlooked. Those nutrients include: fiber, protein, and minerals. The fruit pulp is a rich source of fiber, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. Vitamin C promotes a healthy immune system and increases absorption of iron. Fiber improves our digestion and gut health. These nutrients have a relatively higher concentration compared to common fruits we have daily in North America such as berries and bananas.

As a bonus, baobab comes in powdered form which allows for easy accessibility to those outside of Africa. So next time you are shopping, go and get your hands on some baobab!
